About RFTW

RFTW is written by me. Those in the above picture do not necessarily share the view and opinions of RFTW but they probably should.

A rouge is unique to Canadian football – some love it others hate it. A rouge occurs when the ball is kicked through the endzone or not returned out of the endzone by the receiving team (except on kickoffs). A single point is awarded to the kicking team.

In 2006, Paul McCallum of the B.C. Lions attempted to miss a field goal against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in order to score the rouge and win the game. He was unsuccessful and the Riders won in overtime. This type of tactic happens once a year in the Canadian Football League.

Originally a point was subtracted from the returning team if a rouge occurred. In French, rouge of course means red.
