One pass could have kept Akili Smith in the CFL.
Three weeks ago the Calgary Stampeders QB came in to relieve an injured Henry Burris. The Stamps had the ball 3rd and goal with less than a minute left. Smith threw a pass into the end-zone for what would have been the game winning TD. Unfortunately for Smith, Hamilton’s Dwight Anderson made an outstanding play on the ball, intercepting it and cemented the Ti-Cats second win.
One week later, Smith hurt his groin against the Lions and was pulled. On Monday, Smith looked downright silly against the Riders and was pulled for the newly acquired Ben Sankey. The Sank proceeded to throw two TD passes and make the game interesting.
Smith apparently wasn’t too thrilled about being yanked.
He probably isn’t too thrilled the Stamps axed him. Maybe he can replace Ben Sankey. We hear the Rock River Raptors are in the market for a QB clipboard holder.
