It doesn’t really matter does it? The Saskatchewan Roughriders leading 20-1 at half-time managed to lose to the Edmonton Eskimos 21-20. Wow. If you’re a Rider fan you should be pissed. Don’t let ET and Kent spin this one – it’s inexcusable to lose a game in which you led by 19 points. Here’s an idea. – block for the QB and another one, if your offensive coordinator can’t muster a play call (i.e. 2nd and 4 and a shotgun handoff) then he needs to go. Two embarrassing losses in two really different ways for the Riders. Hats off to Edmonton’s Ricky Ray, Ron McClendon and defensive line. If the Riders aren’t 9-9 this season, with a third place finish/crossover we’ll be dumbfounded. The details:
- Game story.
- Stats.
- Rob Vanstone read our effing minds. Not rolling KJ out, bad hands in the receiving core and a receiver running off-side on a 68-yard run by Wes Cates.
- Collapsing like wet tissue paper.
- Slumber party ends at half-time.
- Fleming doesn’t miss 14 yarders.
- More Fleming love.
- A game of Jekyll and Hyde for both squads.
- Hear Kent Austin’s explanation.
- Something is wrong with Andy Fantuz.
- Couldn’t agree more with this.
The Hardware
MVP
Ricky Ray – QB (Edm): This could probably go to the Esks D-line or Ron McClendon but Ray was stoopid accurate in the second half and ripped the Saskatchewan D for 17 unanswered in the third. He finished 31-44 for 349 yards and a TD.
LVP
The Roughriders O-line: According to TSN, Kerry Joseph was hit 14 times, hurried six times and sacked four times. And when the team needed to protect its QB, it wilted allowing a sack for a 14 yard loss. Honourable mention to OC Ken Miller – way to get completely out-coached in the second half and Andy Fantuz – dropping balls like it’s his job.

Thanks Christ the Riders are reverting back to form so we don’t have to be subjected to the constant gloating about the inevitability of a Grey Cup from the fans.
