The Other Getzlaf, Hopes To Also “Play Balls Off”

Hamilton Ti-Cats rookie receiver Chris Getzlaf’s bro Ryan hoisted the Stanley Cup on Wednesday night. Chris told Sportsnet.ca all about how proud he is of his brother. Chris couldn’t be in Anaheim because he was busy learning how to catch under-thrown balls from Jason Maas. I’m sure Chris is more proud of Ryan after hearing him tell CBC “I played my balls off,” on the ice following the game.

Chris hopes to crack the Ti Cats roster – a roster full of Canadian receivers. The men vying for spots: the ageless Mike Morreale, Brock Ralph, 2007 number one pick Chris Bauman, James Bond novelist Iain Fleming, Atnas Maeko and Nicolas Bisaillon.

Getzlaf played his college ball alongside Bauman at the University of Regina. Getzlaf attended Usher Collegiate – the same high school as B.C. Lions slotback Jason Clermont.

In related news, Bauman apparently has a tender, tender area. Ouch.
